The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced that the process for purchasing nomination, expression of interest, and delegate forms for those wishing to contest in the upcoming Ondo governorship election will start on April 3 and conclude on April 10, 2024. The primary election is scheduled for April 25, 2024.

For the Ondo race, the APC has set the price for the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms at N10 million and N40 million, respectively.

The party has offered concessions for female aspirants and persons with disabilities, who will only need to pay for the Expression of Interest form, while the Nomination Form will be provided at no cost. Additionally, young aspirants aged between 25 and 40 years will receive a 50% discount on the Nomination Forms upon purchasing their Expression of Interest forms.

Key figures vying for the APC's nomination in Ondo include the current Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who took office following the death of the previous Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, on December 27, 2023. Others in the race are Wale Akinterinwa, a former Commissioner for Finance in Ondo, and Jimoh Ibrahim, a Senator representing Ondo South.

Ondo, alongside Edo and six other states—Anambra, Bayelsa, Ekiti, Imo, Kogi, and Osun—conducts its governorship elections at different times from the general election cycle due to previous legal challenges and court decisions.
