Harry Maguire has expressed his appreciation to Gareth Southgate, the England manager, for his unwavering support amid skepticism from some about his inclusion in the squad.

 

Despite facing challenges in securing a consistent first-team spot at Manchester United this season, Maguire has remained a regular selection for England.

 

"I believe I have been included in every squad for which I've been available and have played in every competitive match possible," the defender noted.

 

This consistent selection has significantly boosted his confidence.

 

Having made his debut for England under Southgate in 2017, Maguire acknowledged the mixed opinions about his place in the team: "There are plenty of people who might think I don't deserve to be in the squad, but then again, there are millions who do."
